Baby Chapman

Although I photographed 14 day old Baby Chapman in October 2013, I though I would share about how she inspired me to want to return to my first love of newborn photography.

A friend of mine wanted to provide a gift and asked me if I would capture her newborn photos. I agreed cautiously. I had done newborns when I started my business. But I didn’t really know what I was doing. Sessions were taking several hours or days. I was just understanding my camera and working in auto modes instead of controlling settings in manual mode. The newborns I had were 6-8 weeks old instead of 3-14 days old. So my vision of posing them was a lot more difficult because they were alert. I was disappointed in my process, it seemed impossible to do. So I changed my focus to other areas to get better at my craft without feeling that my hobby was disappointing and discouraging.

So to my surprise, everything I wanted to achieve in newborn photography happened with Baby Chapman. She was delightful. So peaceful, so small, and mom was excited for her to get pictures. It was such a great experience, and I wanted to try it again to see if it was just a fluke. And it wasn’t. Here are some photos from Baby Chapman’s session.
