Introducing Sanguine Portraiture

For the love of everything vogue, classic, vintage, iconic, and timeless…I bring you Sanguine Portraiture.

Sanguine is one of my favorite words. It means to maintain a level of optimism in times of challenge. Yes!

I realized lots of us moms don’t take pictures of ourselves. We stay behind the camera to capture every one of our children’s experiences. Every dance recital, soccer game, band recital, baptismal…but where are we? Even on vacation, how often do we show up in pictures.

What’s even more saddening is how fast time flies. My daughter will be going to college next year…and even as a photographer the number of times I’m in photos with her doesn’t reach 100, or even 50 for goodness sakes. 17 years of her life gone, and there are maybe 50 photos of us? What’s even worse is that the photos are 80% on my phone.

No professional pictures…not a one. And let’s not get into pictures with my hubby…0 or with my mother and sister…0.

Sanguine Portraiture is a place for moms like me. Moms that had their last professional photo taken on their wedding day…or maybe newborn photos. For those who are tired, overweight, can’t get back to their pre-baby weight, exhausted from late night feedings or toddlers wetting the bed, stay-at-home and working moms, moms stretched too thin because they are shuttling their kids to activities, moms where the hubby says “You need a picture of yourself? Why? It’s expensive! I see you everyday,” I get it. I’ve been there, done that, and have that husband. I understand.

But the thing I love about moms and grandmas coming to see me…is the smile on their face when they see how beautiful they look in their images. How I secretly took off 5-10 pounds around your waist and arms. (yes I do that!) The amazement when they can’t believe how they look in the picture.

It’s all because I see you. Say it with me…I see you! I see your personality, your eyes, your dimples, and the nervousness you feel about being in front of the camera. When clients come to me, they are all nervous. Everybody in every shape and size is self-conscious about a body part. Everyone! I am too! I get it! But I work around the things you don’t like, pose you to look your best, and hope you trust me to do it.

So I always hope my clients remain sanguine during our photo shoot. Getting in front of the camera can be a challenge internally and financially. But you must remain optimistic. Trust me to do transformative work and bring out the beauty I see in you.

Like the MasterCard commercial says…your experience and images…priceless.

The pictures below are of all the moms I’ve photographed lately. Some have only one child, others have more. Some have 4 month olds, others have 35 year olds… But what they have in common, they all look beautiful, elegant, and gorgeous at any age and any size!
